How to Minimize VOC Emissions

Shand & Jurs offers a uniquely designed seal, named Expanda-Seal™, which uses tank pressure to inflate the gasket. This design actually uses the internal vessel pressure to create a tighter seal the closer the pressure gets to the set point.

The Expanda-Seal™ is used on all types of pressure pallet assemblies to significantly reduce leakage. For the past five years, the Expanda- Seal™ has reduced emissions and odors in every process environment imaginable.

When pressure inside the tank is well below the set point, the deflated gasket diaphragm (shown in blue) rests on the seat ring in a typical manner, as with any normal valve, retaining internal pressure.
As the pressure approaches the set point, the gasket inflates and wraps around the mating seat to achieve this unique sealing effect. The Teflon diaphragm expands like a balloon, tightly sealing off the flow. Flow is limited to .5 SCFH or less up to 95% of the set point.
When pressure in the tank is at or above set point, the valve lifts to relieve the overpressure. The end result is a superior tight seal.
Expanda-Seal is an option that can be applied to virtually any Shand & Jurs vapor management product.
