Lightning Protection
All L&J equipment, including the MCG 2000SFI, comes standard with
comprehensive lightning and surge protection. This is provided in an external
condulet housing and is made up of tranzorbs, gas discharge tubes, and in-line
fuse resistors on all four lines.
Transient voltages are generated by switching loads, static
discharges, lightning and other electrical disturbances. The MCG 2000SFI has a
lightning suppression system which is both sensitive and fast acting to protect
the more expensive electronics inside the transmitter. The resistor
tranzorb network shunts small transients to ground. If a large enough potential
is built up across them, the gas discharge tube is fired draining large
currents to the ground.
Smart Flash Promotes Reprogramming
With the new processing power in the MCG 2000SFI L&J can now
offer plug-in interface modules. There are parts to any interface protocol,
software and hardware.
The software protocol or actual bit structure of the data is
programmed into the on-board logic chip. Several different software protocols
can be programmed in the same unit.
|
The hardware for the specific interface protocol (i.e.
RS232, RS485, Tankway™, etc.) is provided in a plug-in module. This allows a
customer to replace his existing system over several phases (if
required). For example, a customer can immediately replace their existing
non-L&J transmitters with an MCG 2000SFI containing the appropriate
interface module. At a later date, when the entire system is replaced by an
L&J system, the old interface module can be replaced with a Tankway™ or
other standard module.
