Complete Control
The MCG 1200SFI Series Transmitter is an extremely flexible microprocessor based “MINI-RTU.” Receiving an analog
input it converts the analog signal to digital, displays the data, and transmits the data via the L&J 4-wire digital highway to
the system computer. The MCG 1260 Intermediate Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) upgrades any of the MCG 300 series
into a powerful tank gauging and SCADA instrument. From the control room keyboard, the operator has control of pumps,
Motor Operated Valves (MOV), and proportional valves.
Accessibility
The MCG 1260 is capable of monitoring and providing alarms for smaller, remote sites; using standard dial-up telephone
lines. It stores data for eventual transfer to the MCG 3000 Series computer and compares the current data to a down loaded
set point. If any of the alarm contact inputs are tripped, the MCG 1260 uses the built in autodial/auto answer modem to
call the computer and send the alarm status.
The 4-20mA signals from an ultrasonic level gauge, a pressure transducer, or magnetostrictive probe, as well as a
3-wire RTD, could wire directly to the MCG 1200SFI. Any values can be displayed on the local LCD and the data
transmitted back to a central computer/receiver via the standard L&J 4-wire digital highway (Tankway™).
Total System Integration
This provides the ability to add virtually any type of instrument or sensing device to the system without the need of running
individual analog data wires back to the control room. The MCG 1200SFI and MCG 1260 provides for a convenient reliable
interface between the gauging or SCADA system and various analog devices. This eliminates the need for installing a
large expensive RTU in an area with minimal analog and/or discrete I/O’s. Both can be implemented as part of a total
system or added to any existing MCG Series component at some point in the future. New or updated programming can be
down loaded to any 1200SFI Transmitter into its on-board flash memory “on the fly” to incorporate protocol changes and
additional functionality.
